A few months ago, Davis Advertising was enlisted as the Agency of Record for Southwick’s Zoo—New England’s largest zoological experience, right here in Central Massachusetts. While we have a number of clients in the travel and tourism industry, this is the first time we’ve had a zoo as a client, and we could not be more excited.
We’ve already been busy on a number of projects as the zoo enters its 50th year. The establishment has many events planned throughout the summer in celebration of its big anniversary, so getting Southwick’s name out there has been essential. To start, our web department did an overhaul on their website. It now is more user-friendly, compatible with a myriad of devices, and better for search engine optimization, which is crucial for improving visibility.
Next, we worked on a series of out-of-home media for the zoo. The bold billboards show various animals and represent different children’s reactions associated with their visits to the rural Mendon attraction.
The Agency is also handling all media buying for the client, which includes radio and TV spots. The audio ads are already running on local radio stations, on which you can hear a young girl talk about how Southwick’s Zoo provides her and her family with an escape from the usual. A similar television promotion is currently being produced, as well.

Additionally, the entire Agency, from account services to the creative department and art, together has been employing tactics such as web banner ads, Google AdWords and other advertising techniques to reach the client’s objectives. We’ve been having a great time working hard to ensure that Southwick’s Zoo’s 50th year is its best yet!
